Sightseeing in Nanki Shirahama using only public transportation! Adventure World, Shirahama Toretore Market, and a stay at the Nanki Shirahama Marriott Hotel [Nanki Shirahama 2-Day 1]

Hello. I’m ”Arafifi Mitsu”(Around 50 Mitsu).

Are you interested in Nanki Shirahama, but thinking it seems inconvenient without a car? In fact, Shirahama can be fully enjoyed using just public transportation!

This time, I’ll introduce a “2-Day, 1-Night Bus Trip to Nanki Shirahama” that I personally experienced as a paper driver. It’s packed with transportation tips, sightseeing spots, and gourmet information, so please use it as a reference.

Access to Nanki Shirahama & Tips for Traveling by Bus

Nanki Shirahama Airport is about an hour’s flight from Haneda Airport. Once you arrive at the airport, buses depart according to your flight’s arrival time, so you can rest assured.

For sightseeing in Shirahama, we recommend the following bus passes:

  • 1-Day Unlimited: ¥1,100
  • 2-Day Unlimited: ¥1,600

You can purchase them online using the Jorudan Transit Guide app, or on the bus.

Now, let’s introduce our actual model itinerary!

The 2-Day, 1-Night Trip to Shirahama is a relaxing and scenic route.

Here’s the plan for Day 1. Nanki Shirahama Airport ⇒ Lunch at Toretore Market ⇒ Adventure World ⇒ Hotel check-in

Eat grouper for a seafood lunch at Toretore Market!

After leaving Nanki Shirahama Airport, head straight to Toretore Market by bus!
Grouper is considered a luxury fish in Japan. In Tokyo, the only restaurants where you can eat grouper are high-end establishments, making it difficult for ordinary people to get a chance to try it.

Nanki Shirahama is known for its fresh seafood, and among them, the high-quality fish “grouper” is a must-try!

I ordered grouper sashimi and simmered grouper, but personally, I preferred the simmered version. The food court also offers seafood bowls and sushi, so be sure to try them.

The souvenir section is also well-stocked, with a wide selection of grouper, local seafood, and Kishu pickled plums. They also offer takeout sashimi, making it perfect for a late-night snack at the hotel.

This zoo boasts the largest number of pandas in Japan. There are plenty of other animals to see, making it a must-visit for animal lovers!

Pandas aren’t the only animals here!

  • There’s also a wide selection of marine life, including dolphins and penguins.
  • You can see lions and elephants in the Safari Zone.
  • The zoo is large, but there are many covered walkways, so it’s safe even on rainy days.
  • The admission fee is a bit steep at 5,300 yen, but considering the thrill of seeing pandas up close, it’s not too expensive.
